Aptiva - How to set icons to "normal" size
Applicable to: World-Wide
To set icons to normal size in OS/2:
In OS/2, there is no practical way to return the all the icons to default size without returning to the original configuration. (Upon boot, at OS2 in top left corner of screen, press Alt F1. At the next screen, select "X" for the original archive.)
IMPORTANT: this procedure will also cause you to lose the configuration (icons, etc.) for any subsequent programs added or changes made since the original installation of the operating system.
Normal icon size may be restored on the desktop or in any individual window by the following procedure:
1. Right-mouse click on the desktop or the desired icon.
2. Left-mouse click on "Settings".
3. Click on "Normal Size" to set icons back to normal size. If you wish to restore the icon size and all the other features listed in that window, click on the "Default" button. This procedure must be repeated for each icon in which a change is desired.
To set icons to normal size in Windows 3.1:
Windows 3.1 does not offer an option to change the size of its icons.
To set icons to normal size in Windows 95:
In Windows 95 you can make the icons various sizes.
1. Click on "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel".
2. Double click on "Display"
3. When the Display Properties box opens, click in the tab marked " Appearance"
4. Click on the down arrow to the right of the dialogue box marked "Item" and single click on the word "Icon"
5. The "normal" size for icons is 32. You can adjust the size by clicking on the up or down arrows beneith the word "Size" to the right of the Item box.
6. When the Icon size has been adjust to the appropriate size, click on "OK" to apply the changes.
The are also places within Windows 95 to choose large or small icons as listed below:
My Computer:
1. Double-click the "My Computer" Icon
2. Left-mouse-click on "View" then "Large Icons".
Windows Explorer:
1. Left-mouse-click "Start", "Programs", and "Windows Explorer".
2. Click on "View", and on "Large Icons".
