TP 770/E/ED - Video becomes corrupt while playing AVI files

SYMPTOM:
While playing Microsoft Video For Windows files (AVI), the display video becomes corrupt.
CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad 770/770E/ED running Windows 95/98.
SOLUTION:
Click on Start ==> Settings ==> Control Panel ==> System ==> Performance ==> Graphics and slide the bar until the caption says "Basic accelerator functions: ...".
