IBM 3153 ASCII Terminal Display - Setup parameters and setup menus

3153 Setup Parameters and Setup Menus:
- 3153 Setup parameters affect the 3153 operation when attached to any host (RS/6000, AS/400) system.

Persons installing the 3153 should be familiar with:
- 3153 setup menus
- Host (hardware, operating system and applications)
- Printer (optional)
- RS-232 and RS-422 communications

3153 Factory default setup parameters were selected based on RS/6000 attachment. If 3153 is attaching to AS/400 recommend the following changes:
Auto Wrap = Off
Return Key = New Line
Send Key = Page
Enter Key = Send
Insert Character = Space
New Line = <CR>
Recv <CR> = <CR>
Turnaround Character = <ETX>

3153 Setup Menus are entered (emulation dependent) by one of the following key combinations:
- Left Ctrl Key and numeric keypad Minus Key (-).
- Left Ctrl Key and Scroll Lock/Print Line Key

Setup parameters can be grouped into three areas:
- COMMUNICATIONS/EMULATION:
- COMMUNICATION Setup parameters determine if the 3153 will properly communication to a host and/or attached printer. Parameters include: speed (baud rate), parity, word length and pacing. EMULATION Setup parameter determines the ASCII/ANSI/PCTerm emulation (IBM 3151, DEC VT200, DEC VT100, WYSE 50) commands that will be used. Both the COMMUNICATION/EMULATION setup parameters must match host.

Display/Keyboard:
- DISPLAY Setup parameters determine if the data from application is properly displayed.

Parameters include:
Rows, Columns, Auto Scroll, Auto Wrap, Receive CR, Forcing Insert, and Character Set. KEYBOARD Setup parameters determines if the keyboard works correctly.

Parameters include:
Key Mode, Return Key, Enter Key, Insert Character, New Line, Send Key, and Turnaround Character.

User Preference:
Some 3153 setup parameters can be customized to the user's preference.

Parameters include:
Bell volume, Bell Length, or Cursor Style.

Setup parameters can be modified from the host (operating system, application) via IBM 3151, WYSE 50, or DEC VT200 commands.

Each Setup Menu can be printed using the 3153 Print-Page Local Key. If the 3153 has a serial or parallel printer attached, and the 3153 is configured for a printer, the 3153 offers a Print-Page Local Key. The Print-Page Local Key is described in Appendix A of the 3153 Users Guide.

The 3153 Print-Page Local Key is:
- Press and Hold the Left-Ctrl with the left-shift key, at the same time pressing the (./Del) Numeric Keypad Key.
