TP 770ED - Can not play Region 1 DVD movie titles (5AF model only)
Applicable to: Canada
SYMPTOM:
Can not play Region 1 DVD titles on Canadian model 9549-5AF.
CONFIGURATION:
Preload GCCFFA0 which can be determined by viewing SYSLEVEL.TP file in root directory.
Preload GCCFFX0 (by viewing SYSLEVEL.TP1) has been corrected and does not have this problem. On affected systems DVD is preloaded with Region code 2 and not Region code 1.
WORKAROUND:
Customers with this problem should be given instructions and the 2 files, ALLNODE.DLL(8/29/97) , DVD.REG (9/28/98) to correct the problem. This will replace the incorrect Region 2 with the correct Region 1. To download the file, click here.
Instructions:
1. Copy the file ALLNODE.DLL to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. (Overwrite the one that is already there.)
2. Import the DVD.REG file. (just double click on it from a icon file view)
SOLUTION:
Preload has been corrected.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Recovery CD shipped with these systems will reinstall incorrect Region code and work around steps need repeated after using the Recovery CD. There will be a new recovery CD released with the corrected image. The new recovery CD P/N is 28L3122. This will be released by 10/23/98.
