Crossbrand - Windows 95 trying to access floppy on bootup
Applicable to: World-Wide
Problem:
On every reboot, the Windows 95 desktop appears, but the system keeps accessing the floppy until a disk is inserted.
Thereafter, the system is fine.
Note: Further investigation revealed that under START -> PROGRAMS, there is an option listed for an E MS-DOS PROMPT.
When this option is chosen, it tries to access the floppy drive and then comes back with an error about not finding a file.
Solution:
- Right-Click on Task Bar and choose Properties.
- Go to the Start Menu Programs and choose Advanced.
- In the file tree, click on PROGRAMS.
- In the contents window, highlight the E MS-DOS prompt and delete it.
- Restart the system.
