TP 760E/ED/EL/ELD/XD/XL,765,770 - How to move the PCI Bus Interrupt

Applicable to: World-Wide

This document contains instructions on how to move the PCI interrupt on the ThinkPad 760E/X, 765 and 770.

Moving the PCI interrupt is normally done to avoid a conflict with a device that has to use IRQ 11, the default value for the PCI BUS. This procedure can also be used to add a second IRQ to the PCI bus for those instances when the PCI BUS is being overloaded. Use the procedures listed below, but change the 2nd IRQ to add support for two IRQ's.

1. Open ThinkPad Features.

Windows 3.1:
- Doubleclick on ThinkPad Icon.
- Doubleclick on ThinkPad Features.

Windows 95:
- Click on Start, then Programs, and then ThinkPad.
- Click on ThinkPad Features.

OS/2:
- Click on the ThinkPad Group Icon.
- Click on the ThinkPad Features Icon.

2. Click on the Docking Icon (It looks like a seatbelt.)
3. Click on the Advanced button.
4. Doubleclick on PCI Device Setup.
5. Change 1st IRQ to 9.
6. Click on Okay.
7. Close ThinkPad Features (Click on the door in the upper right corner.)
8. Shutdown and cold boot system.
