Aptiva - 2161/2162 Proper serial port settings
Applicable to: World-Wide
By default, the serial port on Aptiva 2161 and 2162 systems is configured as COM 2, using the following resources:
- I/O address: 2F8h
- Interrupt: 3
You can change the serial port settings by using the Aptiva Setup Utility:
1. Press "F1" when you see the IBM logo while you are starting your system to open the IBM SurePath Setup Utility.
2. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Input/Output Ports section of the Setup Utility. Press "Enter".
3. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Serial Port entry.
4. Use the left or right arrow key to change the address and Interrupt (IRQ) setting for the serial port.
5. Press "Esc" after you have made the desired changes. Press "Esc" again, and select Yes to save the changes. Press "Enter" to leave the Setup Utility and restart the computer.
