TP 380XD,385XD - Unique considerations

Applicable to: World-Wide

Unique Considerations
o Ring Indicator (RI) resume is not supported with Windows 95 native PCMCIA driver. RI resume is supported with CardSoft mode of CardWorks on
Windows 95.

o When using communication cards, it is recommended to set the Power Management Mode to "High Performance" or "Max" (in Customized). Otherwise, some
communication cards may drop communications during the connection.

o A plugged CardBus card may not be recognized correctly by Windows 95 or Windows 95 may incorrectly recognize it as a CardBus which is already installed. If this
happens, do the following:
Open My Computer, Control Panel and System Folder
Click on the Device Manager Tab.
Select the device that was incorrectly recognized
Remove it.
Restart the system.

o IRQ 5 or 7 must be used for the audio device to ensure SoundBlaster Pro compatibility in DOS.

o When you use suspend/resume function on Windows 95 with IE4.0, it is recommended not to change color setting to 256 color.

o IBM Turbo Token-Ring PC Card causes system to hang when you try for network connection on resuming from the suspend in Windows NT 4.0 w/ Service
Pack 3. If you experience this problem, get updated driver from the web at: http.//www.networking.ibm.com/nes/nestoken.htm#trcc and disable "FastPath Transmit"
and "Shallow Mode".

o Many factors, including continuous use of the HDD or CD-ROM drive and reading long video files, will impact battery life.

o The system is designed so that customer can install or remove the PCMCIA card without turning off the system, if PCMCIA card supports this function. Refer to
the instructions that comes with the PCMCIA card.
