TP 770/E/ED - Windows NT generates noisy sound
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
Customer installs the old NT drivers on the ThinkPad 770 running Windows NT 4.0. The machine generates a loud noisy sound when the user logs in. The customer then reinstalled the new drivers which he downloaded from the Web Site and now the card won't work any more.
CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad 770 running Windows NT 4.0 using the IBM EtherJet 10BASE-T PC Card or the IBM EtherJet Combo PC Card (10BASE-T and 10BASE-2
SOLUTION:
Problem was that the old driver name had been set in the NT registry. To install the new driver, the name of the new must be the same as old driver in order for the system to activate the new driver. The attached oemsetnt.inf will rename the new driver name to the old name and driver should work correctly.
