Aptiva - The DATE Command

Applicable to: United States

The DATE command permits you to enter or change the date known to the system. When you create or add to a file, the date is recorded in the directory. You can change the date from the keyboard or from a batch file. If you enter DATE with no parameters, the system displays the current date and prompts you to enter the new date. If you press [Enter] without entering the new date, DOS will keep the old date.

The format of the date is linked to the COUNTRY.SYS information that is specified in the config.sys file.

To use the DATE command, enter: DATE at the DOS command prompt. DOS will prompt you to enter the new date in the proper format.

You can separate the parts of the date with a dash (-), a slash (/), or a period (.). If you type an invalid date, DOS will tell you that the date is invalid and asks you to re-enter. Do not enter the day of the week when you type in the date.
