Clustering - SYMplicity Storage Manager and phantom module - Clean RAID configuration
Applicable to: World-Wide
When a Fibre Channel RAID Controller is replaced in a Fibre Channel RAID Controller Unit (type 3526), run C:\program files\symsm\clean -all. This updates component information stored in the configuration on the hard drives and controllers.
One scenario:
If you power down a system and remove both RAID controllers, install a controller from another configured system and reboot, the newly installed RAID controller reads the configuration from the hard drives and initializes correctly. It does not update the configuration to include its VPD in the configuration. It may also add an additional phantom module (2 total, a module in Symplicity Storage Manager is referring to one 3526).
Fix:
With the system booted to Windows NT, change directory to c:\program files\symsm\ and run clean -all. This corrects the VPD mismatch when the controller(s) are swapped and it also gets rid of the phantom module. It does not change the RAID configuration.
