Aptiva - Additional hard drive disables Diagnostic CD
Applicable to: World-Wide
Problem:
User adds hard drive partitions so that drive letter G: is assigned to a hard drive, user is then unable to use the Diagnostic or Utility CD as a boot device.
Solution:
The AUTOEXEC.BAT and APTUTILS.BAT files on the Diagnostics CD are written to look for the CD-ROM drive on G:. The way around this problem is to create the diskette image of the bootable portion of the CD using LOADDSKF. Once the diskette is created, the AUTOEXEC.BAT and APTUTILS.BAT files on the diskette need to be modified so that they reference the new CD-ROM drive letter. The customer will have to have both the diskette and the Diagnostics CD in the drives when he boots the system. This problem may also be present on the Product Recovery CD.
