Aptiva - 2140/2142 Considerations - Lotus ScreenCam

Applicable to: World-Wide

ScreenCam causes an invalid page fault during playback.

Detail:
When recording with ScreenCam 97, a fatal exception or a general protect fault screen appears. After choosing the Details button for more information, the message ScreenCam caused a GPF in Scvidc10.dll is displayed and then the blue fatal exception screen appears. Rebooting is the only way to clear this.

Answer / Workaround:
These conflicts can also be caused by wallpaper and themes. Lotus recently isolated a problem with some Desktop Themes that cause a general protect fault when trying to record with ScreenCam. For example, the Blade Runner Theme copyrighted by Warner Bros., does cause conflicts specifically with the animated cursor. Several similar reports with other themes have been resolved by turning off the wallpaper. Most of the Themes that are distributed with Win95 do not conflict with ScreenCam, however, for best record results and playback performance we recommend that wallpaper and themes be turned off while recording a ScreenCam movie.
