Aptiva-PS/1 - Full Version PC-DOS package versus PC-DOS Upgrade Version

The FULL version package for IBM PC-DOS is primarily for those systems that you might build yourself that have never had any operating system installed. That is, you assembled the motherboard, controllers, power supply, case, etc., and now you're ready to turn it on for the first time. The FULL version does not check to see if a previous version of DOS is present on the system at all, meaning that it will work on any 286, 386, 486, or Pentium, regardless of whether DOS is installed.
The Full version will cost about $50-$70 more than the upgrade edition. The upgrade edition will work just fine with any system that has a version of DOS already installed. There are no additional books or utilities in the Full edition that aren't in the Upgrade edition. Very few users would ever need to buy the Full edition if they already have a system that has some version of DOS or OS/2 already installed.
