Aptiva - Freeing up memory within Windows 3.0 or 3.1

If you get a Windows out-of-memory message, the following steps can help free memory for use by applications.
1. Quit any applications you are not using.
2. If you are running Windows in 386 enhanced mode, and you are running non-Windows applications in a window, change each application to full-screen display by pressing [Alt]+[Enter].
3. Do not use desktop wallpaper. Instead, you can use a color or pattern, neither of which requires additional memory.
To remove wallpaper
a. In the Main Group window, open Control Panel.
b. Open Desktop.
c. In the Wallpaper option box, select None.
d. Choose OK.
e. Close Control Panel.
4. Clear or save the Clipboard's contents.
To delete the Clipboard's contents
a. In the Main Group window, open the Clipboard.
b. From the Edit menu, choose Delete.
c. Choose OK.
d. Close the Clipboard.
To save the Clipboard's contents
a. In the Main Group window, open the Clipboard.
b. From the File menu, choose Save As.
c. In the Filename box, type a filename and include a .CLP extension.
d. Choose OK.
e. Delete the Clipboard's contents using the preceding procedure.
f. Close the Clipboard.
