Overview
IBM PC Server 4.51GB(1) and 9.1GB Wide Ultra SCSI Hot-Swap Hard Disk Drives expand the high-performance, hot-swap, hard disk drive offerings available to IBM PC Server customers. These technologically advanced Wide Ultra SCSI hard disk drives spin at 7200 rpm and have a maximum synchronous burst transfer rate of 40MB/second. These performance features, matched with the high-performance attributes of either the conventional or the RAID disk subsystems of your IBM PC Server, make an outstanding solution for disk intensive network server environment.
PC Server 4.51GB and 9.1GB Wide Ultra SCSI Hot-Swap Hard Disk Drives have an advanced design that provides high levels of reliability through enhanced electronics integration, Magneto-Resistive (MR) heads, and no-ID sector formatting. These features yield platter densities to 1GB per 3.5-inch disk that reduce internal components and increase reliability. Also, these drives provide System Monitoring and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T) that, in combination with TME 10 NetFinity, can alert the system administrator up to 24 hours in advance of a problem occurring. These PC Server drive options have been tested in market-simulation test suites to ensure they are compatible and function to the design requirements of your IBM PC Server.
Both the 4.51GB Wide Ultra SCSI Hot-Swap Hard Disk Drive and the 9.1GB Wide Ultra SCSI Hot-Swap Hard Disk Drive are mounted on a wide-body type III tray so that installation is quick and simple. They are supported on the PC Server 330,
PC Server 520 models using Type III hard drives, PC Server 3519 Rack Storage Expansion Enclosure, and the PC Server Enterprise Expansion Tower.

(*) These drive options will perform at SCSI-2 mode when connected to SCSI-2 adapters. To operate at Wide Ultra SCSI mode, the drives must be attached to an adapter that supports Wide Ultra SCSI. The PC Server Ultra Wide SCSI PCI Adapter and PC ServeRAID SCSI Adapter support.
Wide Ultra SCSI; however, some configurations may not be supported. Refer to the ANSI SCSI-3 FAST-20 document for cable lengths and other technical requirements to determine if the configuration can be supported. Information can also be found on this subject in the documentation that ships with the adapter options.
