TP 380,385,560E/X,600,760XD/XL,765,770/E/ED - Problems using the reload CD with the OBI 5 GB Hard drive

SYMPTOM:
The Options by IBM (OBI) 5 GB hard drive option for ThinkPads cannot be reloaded with the reload boot diskette that shipped with ThinkPad systems. This version of the boot disk gives various failures. Some diskettes would not finish the repartitioning, while some would appear to finish but then fail to make the drive bootable.

All ThinkPad 380,385,560E/X,600,760XD/XL,765 and 770/E/ED systems.
SOLUTION:
The latest version of the disk from the Web will resolve these problems. Click here to download it. 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The latest version of the diskette TPP95RLD.EXE on the WWW/BBS will reload any of the systems that shipped with an OSR2 Preload Recovery CD ROM, and will work with all of the optional hard drives for any of these machines. In addition, this diskette supports the Options By IBM 20X and CNF 2X PCMCIA CD ROM Drives, and gives the option of partitioning and formatting the entire drive OR just the C: partition..
The only thing that any previous version of the reload boot disk (TPW95RLD.EXE and the diskettes shipped with systems) did, that the latest does not, was to support the Disctec 2X parallel port CD-ROM.
OBI is shipping BIOS updates with these drives, with a minimum level of BIOS to support the drive, but NOT the preload boot diskette as it was not ready in time to make the ship group. They are intending to add the boot disk to any future options, but this is not a part of the 5 GB ship group.
