Aptiva - Activating UNDELETE in Windows
Applicable to: United States
The Aptiva systems preloaded with PC DOS 6.3 or 7.0 may not have an UNDELETE icon in Windows. In most cases, UNDELETE can be entered at a DOS prompt to retrieve older copies of a file that have been deleted. However, if you'd like to be able to use UNDELETE from within Windows, you can create an icon for it.
To do this use these instuctions:
1. Select the DOS Tools group (it should already contain icons for DOS Help, Backup, Scheduler, and the DOS Prompt).
2. Click on File and New at the top menu bar of Program Manager, then click on Program Item and OK.
3. In the Properties dialog, enter: UNDELETE in the description field. Tab down to the Command Line field and type:
C:\DOS\WNUNDEL.EXE
In the Working Directory field, type:
C:\DOS
4. Click on Ok and you will now have the Undelete icon in the DOS Tools group. You can now click on the Undelete icon and configure it for the level of Undelete protection you desire. The Help text will explain the levels offered.
