Aptiva - 2137-E26 ViaVoice lock ups
Applicable to: Canada, United States
Situation:
Your Aptiva 2137-E26 may lock up while using ViaVoice for dictation. You may also experience a pause in the dictation.
Solution:
A problem with the BIOS which causes lockups on the 2137-E26 was identified and fixed due to customer input to the IBM HelpCenter.
Pauses while dictating will be experienced on this system due to the lack of level 2 cache. Because of the processor-intensive nature of voice recognition, the system will sometimes need a pause to "catch up". This condition is called an "audio overrun". It is not possible to add level 2 cache to a 2137-E26.
There is a BIOS flash which will alleviate problems with lockups in Via Voice. Click here to obtain this updated BIOS .
There is no way to alleviate the pauses experienced while dictating.
