TP 380,385 - System may display power-on problems after installing an option

SYMPTOM:
The Thinkpad 380/385 system may fail to power up after installing a new option. When connected to an AC Adapter, the battery light may not be seen.
CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad 380,385 system.
SOLUTION:
The error is a soft reset and will recover.
Step 1
1) Remove the AC Adapter from the system.
2) Remove battery, and attach AC Adapter to the system.
3) Attempt to power on the system.
Note: If your system fails to power-on, proceed to Step 2.
Otherwise, if the system is able to power-on, turn off the system and install the battery.
Step 2
1) Remove the AC Adapter from the system.
2) Remove and replace the battery.
3) Attempt to power on the system.
Note: If the system is able to power-on, you may attach the AC Adapter. Otherwise, if your system fails to power-on, install the battery and attach the AC Adapter to the system. Let the system stand for several minutes. Recheck the system periodically.
The system will recover from this soft error.
