Color Flatbed Scanner - "Scan Failed" message in Xerox Pagis SE

Applicable to: World-Wide

Environment:

Windows NT, Xerox Pagis SE version 1.0 or later, and Scanner Setup Version 1.02

Note:
Customers with the Scanner Setup version 1.03 or later installed should not experience this problem.

Symptom/Error:

No image appears in the Pagis Scan Tool Window. A pop-up dialogue box titled "IBM Flatbed Scanner-32" appears with the message "Scan Failed".

Problem Recreation:

Open the Scanner Utility
(i.e. To set the Lamp Utility or Verify the Port Configuration)

Select the
"SCAN
" from Pagis Scan Tool.

A pop-up dialogue box titled
"IBM Flatbed Scanner-32"
appears with the message
"Scan Failed
".

No image shows up in the Pagis Scan Tool Window.

Temporary Solution:

Closing all applications, rebooting the computer and not opening the Scanner Utility before scanning will allow scanning through Pagis Scan Tool.

Permanent Solution:

Install the scanner update titled "IBM Scanner Update Version P002" that was provided with the IBM Color Flatbed Scanner.
The scanner update can also be obtained from the IBM File Repository.
Filename: FLATSCAN.EXE

Verification:

The scanner update replaces the file, "IBMSCAN.SYS". To verify that the update has been installed, check the size and date of the file.
