Cross Brand - Installing 3995 Model A23 on PS/2 array machine
Applicable to: World-Wide
Service Information:
When installing a 3995 model A23 onto a PS/2 Array machine, support for standard SCSI adapters may not be present because array machines come with a RAID adapter card instead of a SCSI adapter card. To check for SCSI support do the following :-
1. Add the micro channel SCSI adapter card to the PS/2 (see the list of supported adapters in the 3995-A23 Hardware and Software Exceptions document in the 3995-A23 Users Guide).
2. Use the System Programs or the Reference Diskette to config. the PS/2 to recognize the SCSI adapter and the 3995-A23.
3. Look at the OS/2 CONFIG.SYS file and see if the following line is present:
BASEDEV=IBM2SCSI.ADD. If not you will need to install SCSI device driver support. This will require the OS/2 diskettes (or CD-ROM) that were originally used to install the OS/2 currently on the PS/2.
To install SCSI device driver support at the Desktop :-
a. Open the OS/2 System folder.
b. Open the System Setup folder.
c. Open Selective Install.
d. Click on SCSI Adapter Support.
e. Follow the instructions on the screen. You will be asked to insert selected diskettes and the necessary files will be copied to the PS/2 hard drive. The CONFIG.SYS file will be updated. After a shutdown, the SCSI support will be present.
