Aptiva - What is the TYPE command?
Applicable to: United States
The TYPE command displays the contents of the specified file on the standard output device, usually the display, but it can be a file or printer. The data will be unformatted, and only text files will appear in a legible format. Other files, like object program files, may appear unreadable due to the presence of nonalphabetic or nonnumeric characters. Characters, such as smiley faces, spades, hearts, and diamonds, are commonly displayed when you use TYPE with a program file.
