TP General - How to setup an external monitor with your ThinkPad .

Applicable to: World-Wide

Hints, if having problems:
1. Set system to CRT only. LCD & CRT (Both) mode is more restrictive in the resolutions, color depth and refresh rates available.
2. If the device being attached support DDC (Display Data Channel), disable the DDC capability on the device, if possible.
3. Try using 640 X 480 X 16 or 256 Colors @ 60 Hz Refresh Rate (Typical VGA / SVGA modes).
4. Try using one of the IBM displays listed in ThinkPad announcement letter, if available.
5. Many LCD projection panels only support 640 X 480 resolution, ThinkPads with SVGA or XGA LCD displays must be set to CRT ONLY mode for 640 X 480 external video to be produced.
