Aptiva - 2158 Considerations - ALi DD does write operations in PIO mode

Descriptions:
Perform a write operation such as a file copy. The ALi device driver uses PIO mode for writes, so the performance benchmarks are poor.

How to duplicate:
Connect a writable ATAPI device such as CD-R, CD-RW, or LS-120. Attach logic analyzer to IDE bus. Perform a write operation such as a file copy. The ALi device driver uses PIO mode for writes, so the performance benchmarks are poor.
Root cause:
File transfers are done in PIO mode. This is a device driver limitation. Most customers will not won't know unless they measure the Xfer speed with a third party device.
Workaround:
None at this time. Possibly an updated device driver
