SYMPTOM:
How to set the modem speed of the internal modem, MWave and ACP.

CONFIGURATION:
ThinkPads 770(9549), 765D, 760C/CD/E/ED/XD, 755CDV/CD/CE/CX /CSE/CV, 701C/CS and 600 with the original software preload, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 95, and SAS.

RESOLUTION:
Your modem and the distant end modem must support the same modem protocol or your maximum connection speed will be altered to the modem that has the slower speed between the two.

The actual connection rate may be limited by the quality of your telephone lines which may vary from location to location.

Windows 95 Preload TP 600
1. Click the Start button, select Programs then select ThinkPad Modem.
2. Click Modem.
3. Choose Options from the Modem Status Window then choose Settings.
4. The available transfer speeds are displayed. The 56K protocol(s) your modem supports is
listed in parenthesis following the 56000 bps transfer setting.
5. If no 56000 bps transfer setting is listed, your modem's 56k technology is not currently enabled.
6. Go to Control Panel select Modem.
7. Click on Properties and select the same speed that you have previously selected in the Modem Status Window.

Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 Preload TP 770
1. Click the Start button, select Programs then select Modem
2. Click Modem
3. Choose Options from the Modem Status Window then choose Settings.
4. The available transfer speeds are displayed. The 56K protocol(s) your modem supports is
listed in parenthesis following the 56000 bps transfer setting.
5. If no 56000 bps transfer setting is listed, your modem's 56k technology is not currently enabled.
6. Go to Control Panel select Modem
7. Click on Properties and select the same speed that you have previously selected in the Modem Status Window.

5. Go to Control Panel select Modem
6. Click on Properties and select the same speed that you have previously selected in the Modem Status Window.
(SAS) Preload TP 755CDV/CD/CE/CX /CSE/CV
1. Open the MWave ThinkPad icon and select MWave Modem
2. Click on the Options tab on the title bar then select Settings
3. The available transfer speeds are displayed. Select which speed you prefer than click on the OK button.
4. Go to Control Panel select Modem
5. Click on Properties and select the same speed that you have previously selected in the Modem Status Window.
(SAS) Preload (TP 701C/CS)
1. Open Accessories Application
2. Select Terminal
3. Select Settings on the title bar
4. Scroll down to Communications
5. Under the Baud Rate option select the speed that you prefer, than click on the OK button
