Servers - ARCserve install procedure for Windows NT on DLT 3447 and 3449

ARCserve INSTALLATION

Note: This procedure assumes an installation from a Live Trials CD ver. 6.0.

1. Insert the ARCSERVE CD in the drive. The setup menu will appear. Select "ARCserve for Windows" and select "Install".

2. Follow the on-screen instructions. Type in the 20-digit CD key found on the CD cover. Press Enter.

3. Type in your name and organization. Click on "Next".

4. Select "Express Setup", then "Next".

5. Accept the directory "C:\ARCserve". Click on "Next". Click on "Finish".

6. Type in a password and confirm it. Click on "Next".

7. Select "Start the ARCserve services automatically....", then "OK."

8. After the files are copied, select "OK", then "exit."

BACKUP AND RESTORE WITH ARCserve

1. All tape device drivers for NT must be disabled prior to running ARCserve. This can be done with the control panel in NT and with the "Devices" menu.

2. Load a tape in drive no.1 and select "ARCserve Manager".

3. Select "Device Group Manager" (3 flags). Assign the tape devices to a group.

4. Double click on the tape to be used. Format the tape; give it a name; click "OK." The tape will rewind and format.

5. Select "Manager" from the pull down menu. Click on "Backup." Select "Source" and double click on the files to be backed up. Mark the small green square(s).

6. Select "Destination"; click on the tape being used.

7. Select "Run" (the "Go" light). Select "OK" for security and "OK" at "Job Description".

8. To restore the files just backed up, select "Restore" from the manager pull down menu.

9. At "source" double click on the server tree and the file to be restored.

10. Click the "Destination" label. The message will be "Restore files to their original location."

11. Click on the "Go" light to run the job, and select "OK" twice.

INSTALLING THE AUTOCHANGER OPTION FOR ARCSERVE:

Note: If autochanger is added, the backup and restore menus may vary slightly from this procedure.

1. Insert the ARCserve Installation CD in the Server CD ROM drive. The setup menu will appear.

2. At the setup menu, select the ARCserve changer option, click on "Install," then "next".

3. Type in the 20-digit CD key from the CD cover. Press Enter. Select "Yes" for license agreement.

4. If Cheyenne services are running, you must stop all engines at this point.

5. Assign the tape drives to the changer. Click on "Next".

6. Assign the cleaning information if required.

7. Click on "Next", then "Finish", and "exit".

8. Copy the following files to the C:\Arcserve directory:
chglist.dll (size: 23,552, date: 8/25/97)
tapelist.dll (size:15,872, date: 8/25/97)

Note: The above files are required as of 9/26/97 in order to recognize IBM Tape Libraries Models 3447 and 3449.
