Servers - NetWorker install procedure for Windows NT on DLT 3447 and 3449

LEGATO NETWORKER INSTALLATION:

Note: This procedure assumes the use of a CD for Networker version 4.4.

1. After NT has been installed, insert the Networker CD in the drive and activate "Setup" from the Networker_4_4_ic2\Networker file.

2. Select "Server and Client" option and type in your server name. Accept the default location:
C:\win32app\nsr. (Example).

3. Use the Networker Wizard to complete the installation.

4. For NT 4.0 load the tape library drivers from diskette to the system file:
C :\winnt\system32\drivers.

As of 9/26/97, the current drivers are as follows:

exabyte2.sys, 22,368, 12/09/96 for Model 3449 (Alpine)
dlttape.sys, 22,848, 12/06/96 for Model 3447 (Peak)

5. Use the control panel for NT and load the driver for the tape unit in test.

6. At the Legato main menu, select "Devices", then right click on "tape 0".

Delete the 4 mm tape.
Create a new 8 mm tape.

Note: The driver for the tape device must be loaded and started prior to creating the new tape.

BACK-UP AND RESTORE WITH LEGATO NETWORKER:

1. Load a tape in drive No.1 and select "Networker Administrator", then "Devices."

2. Right click on "Tape 0"; select "operations" and "label". If the tape is not enabled, go back to "Tape 0"; right click, select
"edit" to enable it.

3. Label and mount the tape. Close the window.

4. Back up the files (RAID or non-RAID) by selection "Networker User." Click on the backup icon, select "source" and mark the files from the tree.

5. Click on the "Go" light to start the job.

6. Restore the files just backed up by selecting the "Restore" option at the "Networker User" menu.

7. Select "source" and mark the file.

8. Select "options" and "recover options" from the pull down menu. Select "overwrite existing files."

9. Click on the "Go" light to start the job.

CONFIGURING AN AUTOCHANGER FOR NETWORKER:

Note: If autochanger is added, the menus for backup and restore may vary slightly from this procedure.

1. Open an MS/DOS window.

2. Change to the NetWorker directory: C:\win32app\nsr\bin (example).

3. Enter the following command: jbconfig.

4. You are asked to choose one of the following:

(A) Install an autodetected SCSI jukebox
(B) Install an SJI jukebox
Select (A).

5. Assign a name (Alpine or Peak). Enter.

6. Answer "no" to "Do you want ...cleaning support enabled?".

7. Press enter for pathname of media drive 1:\\.\tape0.

Press enter for pathname of media drive 2:\\.\tape1.

8. Answer "no" to next two questions (A) ...do you want bar code reader support enabled?
(B) Do you want volume labels to match bar code labels?

9. Message should be "Jukebox has been added successfully."
