TP General - ThinkPad Windows 95 Recovery and OS/2 Boot Manager
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
Windows 95 Recovery fails with message 'No system disk or disk error' after reboot when a Boot Manager partition is present on the hard drive
CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad that shipped with a Windows 95 recovery CD using OS/2 Boot Manager. OS/2 itself does not have to be present.
SOLUTION:
The recovery succeeds when the Boot Manager partition is removed before you start the recovery and make the Windows 95 partition 'Startable' (OS/2 FDISK) or 'Active' (DOS FDISK). After the recovery, the Boot Manager can be reinstalled or reset to the active partition.
