IBM IntelliStation M Pro (Type 6889, 6898) - Adaptec Raidport 2 adapter

Problem:
The IBM IntelliStation M Pro, type 6889 or 6898 may experience one of the following problems when using the Adaptec ARO1130CA-B Raidport 2 adapter:
Information screen fails to display the ARO 1100 Family Adaptec information about the Raidport card.
During the scan for SCSI devices, the system appears to lock up or never finds any devices.
Explanation:
The AIC-7895 SCSI controller on the system board of the 6889/6898 is Rev C. and the Raidport 2 card is Rev B.
Fix:
Go to URL http://www.adaptec.com/RAID/RAIDport2 and download select_util_cav31.exe
Self extract to the FDD, then boot to a DOS disk and run the flash.exe file. This will flash the ARO-1130CA-b to Rev. C and correct all known problems.
