IBM is expanding its family of 68-pin high-performance 7200 RPM drives with the 18.2GB Wide Ultra SCSI Hard Disk Drive. This drive is an outstanding choice for audio visual real time data storage and playback. An important feature of this drive is the industry standard Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.), which provides advanced warning of an impending drive failure when used with the appropriate software, such as, IBM's Netfinity Manager (TM). To protect customer investments in Predictive Failure Analysis (TM) server reliability software and hardware, S.M.A.R.T. implements a compatible failure reporting scheme. The advanced design of the 18.2GB Wide Ultra SCSI Hard Drive provides high levels of reliability in a high-performance solution. Use of the latest technologies, such as Magneto-Resistive (MR) heads, provides the foundation for a more reliable design. Features include:
