Aptiva - Changing the settings on the Mwave card

The Mwave Card allows you to disable certain features. This can be helpful when you are installing a device that needs a certain IRQ. For example, if you want to install another device and you do not use the MIDI feature, you can free up IRQ 9.
To disable IRQs or features please follow these steps:
1. In DOS mode or at a DOS prompt change to the C:\MWD\UTILS directory.
2. Type: HWCONFIG. This brings up the "Configure Mwave Adapter Hardware Settings".
3. Under the I/O Address Settings, disable the particular feature you want.
4 Click on the I/O Setting, highlight the Disable portion, and press Enter.
5. Once you select the feature you wish to disable, select the Update button and follow the instructions. This will free up all the settings.
NOTE: The two features you cannot disable are the Mwave system and the SoundBlaster feature. If you want to replace the sound card, you will have to remove the entire Mwave card. If you do this you will lose the MPEG features.
