OVERVIEW
IBM's ThinkPad(R) 770 is the ultimate in "Extreme Performance" mobile computing. Advance to the next level of multimedia notebook computing with a high level of processing power in a sleek, compact mobile form factor (approximate weight of 3.1 kg (6.8 lb)) without the FDD installed. These systems have the power of a fast 200MHz(1) or 233MHz Pentium(R) processor with MMX(TM) technology and 512KB of L2 cache, with a 4.0GB(2) or 3.2GB HDD, depending upon model.
Bigger, brighter display: The huge 13.3-inch (measured diagonally) incredibly bright display with 1024 x 768 resolution delivers exhilarating mobile images and video. At 36% brighter than previous ThinkPad 760 TFT displays, ThinkPad 770 displays are as bright as many desktop monitors.
DVD in a notebook: The optional DVD drive, with its superior video and audio quality, is perfect for video presentations and storage, and for using your current library of CD-ROMs. DVD puts 4.7GB or more of storage on a single disc. If you also want to view hardware supported DVD movies and commercial DVD content, the optional DVD and Enhanced Video Adapter is also available.
Premier Windows NT(TM) workstation support in a mobile platform: Full power management, UltraBay(TM) II Plug and Play capability, and hot plug PC Card support give you most of the key features needed to take advantage of Windows NT's security, scalability, and reliability. And that's not all! With the ThinkPad 770, IBM provides additional Windows NT functional extensions that were normally available only to Windows 95 mobile users.
Robust system manageability: The ThinkPad 770 complies with the industry standard Desktop Management Interface (DMI), Wake on LAN(TM) support via the optional SelectaDock III, thermal monitoring, local and remote asset management and asset security via passwords and locks, and early detection of a hard drive failure.
Unprecedented mobile multimedia: Exploit amazing 3D graphics, images, video, and sound capabilities as you create dazzling presentations or surf the Internet using this powerful array of advanced audio and video capabilities of the ThinkPad 770. Optional features provided by the optional DVD and Enhanced Video Adapter Upgrade include full MPEG-2 playback, video in (video capture), playback over TV (video out) and support for Dolby Digital audio. You can also experience lively theater-quality sound.
Ingenious design: Superior design and portability let you, while on the road, take advantage of the latest technology, power, and multimedia. The ThinkPad 770's flexible, modular design and array of docking alternatives provide a highly configurable, upgradeable mobile computing solution that allows you to build the system you need.
A new touch for TrackPoint(R): New "Press-to-Select" or "Release-to-Select" features allow tapping of the TrackPoint itself to speed icon launches and reduce keystrokes. A new programmable center button enables fast scrolling of Web sites and documents, and fast panning across wide spreadsheets. Or, switch to the innovative magnifying glass feature to enlarge screen views in any application.
