Aptiva - How to use the DOS Shell to copy a file from the fixed disk to diskette

If you want to copy a file from your fixed disk to a diskette, you may do so through the DOS Shell File System.

1. Start the DOS Shell.
2. Use your mouse to select the directory the file is located in, and then select the file on the right side that you want to copy to a diskette.
3. Select File from the menu bar, and then choose Copy.
4. From the copy window, type "A:" (without quotes) in the TO: box, and then press [Enter].

This procedure will copy the file you have selected from the fixed disk to a diskette.

If you want to copy a file from a diskette to your fixed disk, you may do so through the DOS Shell.

1. Start the DOS Shell.
2. Use your mouse to select the A: drive icon (picture) in the upper left corner of the screen.
3. Once the diskette information has displayed, select the directory the file is located in, and then select the file on the right side you want to copy to the fixed disk.
4. Select File from the menu bar, and then choose Copy.
5. From the copy window, type "C:" (without quotes) in the TO: box, and then press [Enter].

This procedure will copy the file you have selected from the diskette to your fixed disk.
