Aptiva-PS/1 - CHKDSK error messages

If there is a problem detected in the DOS file system when CHKDSK is executed, you may get a set of error messages similar to the following:
Errors found, F parameter not specified
Corrections will not be written to disk.
XX lost allocation units found in NN chains
XX,XXX disk space would be freed.
These message indicate that errors were found and that the /F parameter was not specified on the command line for CHKDSK. Thus, the program is not able to make any corrections to the file system. The number of errors and the amount of disk space that can be freed for other uses is also indicated.
In order to fix file system problems, you should enter the command with the /F parameter as follows:
CHKDSK /F
It will now follow the same process as before, but this time it should correct any errors found in the file system. If it asks whether you want the errors to be put into a file, reply No, since these files are generally useless unless you know exactly how to interpret them or where they came from.
