Aptiva - 2158/2163/2164 Considerations - Error when attaching USB audio adapter

Description:
GPF of RUNDLL32 occurs in WDMAUD.DRV by attaching USB speaker This problem occurs when USB speaker, for example, Roland MA-150U, is attached for the first time.
Models affected:
2158, 2163, and 2164
How to duplicate:
Install audio adapter without first disabling the onboard ESS audio.
1. Attach USB speaker.
2. Hardware wizard will start. Continue installing drivers by clicking next button.
3. After the drivers are installed, GPF of RUNDLL32 will occur in WDMAUD.DRV.
Root cause:
Windows 98 only supports one audio subsystem concurrently.
Workaround:
User must disable the on-board audio by accessing setup using the F1 key on boot up before attempting to install another audio adapter.
