Netfinity 5000 - SCO 5.0.5 and IBM PCI Token Ring Adapter sharing interrupts

Applicable to: World-Wide

Source: RETAIN tip H165128

SYMPTOM:
During installation of SCO 5.0.5, if 2 or more IBM PCI Token Ring adapters (41H8900) are installed with the token ring adapters sharing interrupts, there will be errors during the SCO installation. The system needs to be rebooted and the installation re-started. If SCO 5.0.5 is already installed and 2 or more token ring adapters are added, the system will hang as
the OS is loaded, if the adapters share the same interrupt.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
- The system is a Netfinity 5000 server, Type 8659, any model.
- The system is being configured with SCO 5.0.5.
- The system has two (2) or more IBM PCI Token Ring adapters (41H8900).
- The IBM PCI Token Ring adapters are sharing interrupts.
- The installation of the OS errors.

FIX:
Ensure the token ring adapters do not share the same interrupt.
