TP General - Lotus Notes will not replicate on battery power using PCMCIA modem

SYMPTOM:
ThinkPad on battery power will not Replicate Lotus Notes over a modem. If same configuration is run on AC power, replication is successful.
CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad running Lotus Notes trying to perform a replication via a PCMCIA modem.
SOLUTION:
Set Power Management for battery to Custom with the Processor speed set to Medium and Automatic clock control selected.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Automatic Clock control is the crucial element. Automatic clock control must be enabled or replication will fail. Automatic clock control is not available at the Maximum processor speed. Slower processor speeds MAY work, but the setting of Medium and Automatic clock control will definitely work.
To make these changes in ThinkPad Features:
1.) Start ThinkPad Features.
2.) Click on the Power Management button.
Note: Your ThinkPad Features program may look slightly different depending on the model ThinkPad you are running. Not all models of the TP 365 have ThinkPad Features (only 365X/XD).
3.) In the Power Properties windows, click on the Power Mode tab.
4.) Ensure that the Customized option is selected. Change Processor speed to Medium and then enable the Automatic clock control.
5.) Click on Apply, then OK.
To enable this from DOS:
From a DOS command line type PS2 SP A M DC and press Enter.
To ensure that you are running in Customized mode click on the icon that has the hand over the faucet in ThinkPad Features.
