Aptiva - IBM PC International Warranty Service (IWS)

IWS allows the computer owner to travel or relocate PC equipment into another country while retaining the ability to receive Warranty Service during the original warranty period.
Note: IWS applies to hardware only and not to software.
IWS is available wherever that particular PC (as designated by the 4-digit machine type) is sold and serviced by IBM or IBM resellers. The service delivery methods of the receiving country will be in effect and may be different from those in the originating country. Upon registration for IWS, IBM will issue a certificate which will be recognized worldwide by IBM and IBM reseller service organizations. Present it at the time of service and the warranty will be honored.
TO REGISTER FOR IWS, CALL THE IWSO OFFICE 1-800-497-7426 or (810) 740-1215. Please supply:
- proof of purchase stating original purchase date
- name of the originating country
- name, contact, address, phone number and fax number
- destination name, contact, address, phone number and fax number
- machine type/model number, product serial number
- status: relocation or traveler?
PLEASE BE AWARE:
1. Due to magnetic fields in different parts of the world, monitors are manufactured to work in the northern or southern hemispheres or equatorial region and may not produce a satisfactory image if used in other regions.
2. While IBM software may be used in other countries it is not covered under warranty. IBM programs are governed by the terms and conditions of the Program License Agreement. Other vendor software may also be subject to restrictions. Please study the terms and conditions before moving.
3. Electrical power varies in different parts of the world. Ensure machines you wish to relocate are compatible in the new country.
4. Equipment is often subject to local laws (particularly modems). Ensure your equipment is acceptable in the new country.
5. Computer equipment must be carefully packed to avoid transit damage which is not covered under IWS. We recommend you consider insurance.
6. Each machine type may have models with unique features and components If a model is not sold and serviced in a country, service may not be readily available in that country.
7. Computer owners are responsible for obtaining all necessary clearances required for export/import and shall bear any associated costs, tariffs and duties.
