NOTE:
1-Memory cards are NOT interchangeable between Old and New Style IPDS Cards.
NOTE:
2-The Old Style Card requires a minimum of 2 Meg of Memory to be installed. The Old Style IDPS card comes without memory.
When replacing an IPDS card, the pluggable memory MUST be transferred from the defective card to the replacement card.
You can NOT depend on the menu printout to determine which style card is installed, therefore you must do a physical inspection before upgrading the microcode. These cards are microcode sensitive, so each card is ONLY compatible with
it's OWN Microcode Load.
The IPDS Code for the New Card also has prerequisites in the Attachment Microcode. When a New Style IPDS Card is installed, you should also upgrade the Attachment Code to the latest levels available from the host.
SECTION 1 of this tip lists code for NEW STYLE CARDS
SECTION 2 of this tip lists code for OLD STYLE CARDS
All microcode upgrades are AS-REQUIRED. Only those machines with a given problem should be updated.
