Aptiva - Using numbers in your power-on password
Applicable to: World-Wide
The Aptiva Setup utility allows you to set a power-on password for your system. Within this function, the BIOS distinguishes between numbers typed in from the numeric keypad (on the right hand side of the keyboard), vs. numbers typed in from the number keys (above the letter keys). Thus if your password "123" was created from the numeric keypad, and later on you turn on your system and type in "123" from the number keys, the machine won't recognize your password. The solution is to always use the same numeric keys when typing in a password, or choose a password without any numbers.
