CD's that only work in the first drive: *

Product Recovery CD:
When you are recovering a system, you MUST place the recovery CD in Drive 4 (NOT drive 1, but drive 4. It does not work in any other drive).

Pitfall:
If you place pitfall in any drive except the first, and try to play it, it gives an error, Pitfall must be played using CD-ROM. Play Pitfall from the first slot.

Cyberia:
Works only in the first drive slot. Message will appear to the user: unable to find Cyberia CD, please insert it in the first slot of your CD-ROM drive.

Dreams of Flight:
Only works in the first drive. Message displayed tells the user to place the CD in the first slot of the drive.

* Note that if the CD is not listed as only working in Drive 1, then it works in any drive. Also, testing was only done on the CD's that shipped. no third party CD's , besides audio, were tested. How do I use the 4 CD Changer? To access a drive of the changer, push the button to the right of the number for that drive. The button also allows the user to eject CD's. If you access a drive while playing an audio CD, the CD will stop playing. It will not remember the track of the audio CD. It will return to the beginning of the CD with AudioStation closed, or open.

Silent Steel
Silent Steel is not a "changer aware" application. i.e., you cannot place all the CDs in the changer and play Silent Steel. The Silent Steel CD requested by the program, MUST go in the same drive as the CD that is being removed from the changer.

Audio CD's and AudioStation
If the user wants to use AudioStation to playtracks from different CD's in the changer, go to AudioStation and click on playlist. He can change drives and select tracks. If you show a user how to do this, IT IS A FEE CALL!!!

Quirks:

The icons do not "Refresh" when you double-click on My Computer.

Response to the user: In the menu bar for My Computer, click on View, click Refresh. Refresh updates the versions to reflect the current CD's in the drive(s).

If Autoplay is enabled on more than one drive, Windows 95 will try to play both CDs and will switch back and forth between them. It will continue to swap between the drives without playing the CD's.

Turn off Autoplay for the CD-ROM drive.
Go to Control Panel
Doubleclick on the System Icon
Choose the Device Manager tab.
Click on the + sign beside CD-ROM.
Double click on one of the CD-ROM devices (IBM CD-ROM DRIVE:251)
Choose Settings and remove the check mark for Auto Insert Notification.

Data CD's should be run from tray/slot 1. If they are not, software may not find the CD. This is because each tray is seen as a logical drive. To keep track, for both the preload and installed apps, it's best to use the first drive. If you install from one tray and try to run the program from another, the system will not find the CD (because the .ini will only look in the "drive" it installed from).
