Aptiva - 2140/2142 System hangs after removing LT modem and the Scrollpoint Mouse drivers

Applicable to: World-Wide

If for any reason you remove both the Lucent modem drivers and the ScrollPoint mouse drivers, then reboot, the system will lock up during reboot. The system will NOT boot into 'Normal' mode until problem is resolved.

Resolution:

1. Power off the system.
2. Power on the system and press F8 at the Aptiva screen.
3. Select 6 (command prompt) and press Enter.
4. Type: cd\ibmtools\ibmboot and press Enter.
5. Type: regedit pmouse.reg and press Enter.
6. Restart system via CTRL-ALT-DEL or power off/on.
7. If the system boots up in WINDOWS SAFE mode, allow it to complete boot and select RESTART.
