TP Docking - How to disable the SCSI controllers in Docking Stations

Applicable to: World-Wide

How to disable the SCSI controller for each docking station, and for various operating systems.

Each of the Docking stations listed below have a SCSI controller in them.

*Docking Station 1:
This docking station uses the Future Domain 850 controller.

To disable on the Hardware Level:
1. Open the base of the Docking Station
2. Locate the jumper for the IRQ
3. Remove jumper, and place so it only contacts one (1) pin. The SCSI controller is now disabled at the hardware level.

DOS/Windows 3.1x:
Follow the hardware level instructions or remark out any SCSI drivers loaded from 3rd Party sources.

Windows 95:
There are two methods:
Disable on the Hardware level as indicated above.
- OR -
Go to the device manger and disable it through the software below.
1. Click on "Start", then "Settings", and then "Control Panel".
2. Click on "System", then on "Device Manager" tab.
3. Scroll down to SCSI Controllers, double click on category to expand it.
4. Double click on the Future Domain controller.
5. Un-check the Device usage.
6. Click OK.
7. Shutdown and reboot system. Controller has now been disabled by Windows 95.

OS/2 Warp:
There are two methods:
Disable on the Hardware level as indicated above.
- OR -
Perform a selective uninstall.
1. Click on the "OS/2 System" ICON.
2. Click on the "System Setup" Icon.
3. Click on the "Selective Install".
4. Set SCSI Controller to None.
5. Click OK, complete the Selective install.
6. Open an OS/2 Windows.
7. Type E CONFIG.SYS, to launch editor.
8. REM out any BASDEV entries with SCSI in them.
9. Save file and reboot.

*Docking Station 2:
This docking station uses the Adaptec AH-1520 controller.

To disable on the Hardware Level:
1. Remove the cover from the Docking Station.
a. Remove two thumbscrews on rear of dock.
b. Pull cover forward and then up.
2. Locate the SCSI dip switch block.
3. Set switches are follows. 1 - off, 2- on, 3-on, 4- off (off is to the right, on is to the left.)
4. Replace cover, and Thumbscrews.

DOS/Windows 3.1x:
There are two methods of disabling the SCSI controller. 1) Perform the Hardware level above. 2) Remove the software drivers.
1. Type E CONFIG.SYS.
2. Remark out any entries from the SCSI directory.
3. Save file and reboot.

Windows 95:
There are two methods:
Disable on the Hardware level as indicated above.
- OR -
Go to the device manger and disable it software wise.
1. Click on "Start", then "Settings", and then "Control Panel".
2. Click on "System", then on "Device Manager" tab.
3. Scroll down to SCSI Controllers, double click on category to expand it.
4. Double click on the Adaptec controller.
5. Un-check the Device usage.
6. Click OK.
7. Shutdown and reboot system. Controller has now been disabled by Windows 95.

8. REM out any BASDEV entries with SCSI in them.

*Select-A-Dock 1 & 2:
The SCSI controller can not be disabled at the hardware level.
These docks use the Adaptec AIC-7850.

DOS/Windows 3.1x:

a. Type E CONFIG.SYS.
b. Remark out any entries from the SCSI directory.
c. Save file and reboot.
