Modem Saver - Usage Instructions

The IBM Modem Saver (Digital Line Voltage Checker) is an optional device that can be purchased to help determine whether the phone line you intend to use is properly wired and safe for the computer to use. Please contact any IBM reseller to purchase this device, part number 73G5395.

1. Connect Device to the Phone line or outlet to be tested.
2. Look at the device and note the following:
   • A red indicator means line is Digital do not use.
   • A green indicator means that the line is safe for use.
   • A yellow indicator means that the line is "Reversed Polarity", Modem may or may not work.
   • A blank or no lit indicators means that the phone line is dead.
