28.8K PCMCIA International Data/Fax Modem - Unable to run country selector software for a ThinkPad 385D

Problem:
Unable to run the country selector software for the International Modem on a ThinkPad 385D. When trying to run the selector the "unexpected device was detected" error is received. Setup does not see the modem - but it is, however, detected by Windows 95 and it passes diagnostics in the modem properties.

Solution:

1. Go to control panel.
2. Open power icon.
3. In power icon area there is an item "turn off pcmcia slot when not in use" by default this has a check mark in it.
4. Uncheck this item.
5. Close folders and reboot machine.
