Hard Drives - SCSI Disk Drive Jumpering
Applicable to: World-Wide
Symptom:
SCSI drives from different vendors may have differing jumper setup requirements. Varying the jumper setup on the drive may not effect any change of drive setup.
Problem Isolation Aids:
For Maxtor and Connor SCSI drives, there may be a set of jumper pins located on the drive controller card.
Fix:
If the SCSI drive has jumper pins located on the controller card, use these rather than the jumper pins located in the usual place at one end of the drive.
Also, SCSI drives from different vendors are terminated in different ways. Some SCSI drives terminate through the use of a conventional jumper. Some SCSI drives have removable terminator resistor blocks present on the drive controller card.
