TP 755,760 - Are there any limitations to Voice-Over-Data?
Applicable to: Canada, United States
Description:
Having only one analog line, Voice-over-data sounds like a handy feature. Are there any limitations to this feature?
Solution:
While VOD is enabled, the modem will only operate at speeds up to 14.4Kbps. If you would like to achieve full 28.8Kbps speed you will have to disable VOD.(If you have a second analog phone line, of course, you can speak on one and use the modem on the other at full speed.) Also, VOD will not work with an MNP or asynchronous connection. It requires a V.42 connection (with or without V.42bis).
At present only DOS and Windows support is provided for VOD. Native OS/2 and Win-OS/2 session are NOT supported.
