Aptiva - Illegal operations in Microsoft Works Communications Tool

Situation:
When a user opens Microsoft Works, chooses the "Works Tools" tab, and then chooses the communications button, he immediately receives an Illegal Operation Error "MSWorks caused an invalid page fault in module MSWORKS.EXE at 0157:004130070". He can exit out of MS Works, but then if he goes back in to MS Works, he then gets "Fatal Exception OE has occurred at 0157:BFF9A25B" This also occurs if he goes into other applications, but with other applications this is more sporadic. After reopening MS Works or entering a different application, when a key is pressed, it brings "MSWorks (or the title of whatever the next application was) caused a General Protection Fault in Module USER.EXE at 0006:00004bb5"
