Aptiva - No dial tone using communication applications
Applicable to: United States
The Mwave modem sends a signal out to detect a dial tone. If your particular phone system does not operate within a certain frequency range, the Mwave will return an error, i.e. "No Dial Tone" The way we get around that is to tell Mwave to dial without performing the frequency test.
To do this:
1.) From the Windows 95 Desktop, click on 'Start', 'Settings', and 'Control Panel'
2.) Double-click on 'Modems'
3.) Click on 'Properties', and 'Connection'
4.) In the Call Preferences, remove the check-mark from "Wait for dial tone before dialing"
5.) Click on 'OK' and 'Close' for the changes to take effect
